For 40 years I've worked at the local, state, regional, and national level to make our world a better place...It began when I was 19, working in San Francisco City Hall and got a stop sign installed at a dangerous intersection.
The politics bug bit hard that day, launching me into two presidential campaigns, successful congressional, county executive, and statewide referendum campaigns in Washington; to big jobs for a congresswoman and a senator; and to the Environmental Protection Agency as Senior Policy Advisor and spokesman.
Along the way I've helped ban asbestos from consumer products, secure full domestic partnership rights for Washingtonians, protect the world's greatest salmon fishery in Bristol Bay, and get wildfire victims in California, Oregon, and Hawaii on their way to recovery.
